Copper Museum in Legnica

The Copper Museum in Legnica was originally established in 1879, but its building and collections were destroyed in 1945. The current Copper Museum, founded in 1962, had to be recreated from the ground up.

The museum is a cultural institution funded by the local government and financed through the city of Legnica’s budget. Its focus is on the history of Legnica, the region, copper, and its various uses by humans. Over the years, the museum has organized more than 400 exhibitions, showcasing ancient and contemporary Polish art, European art and crafts, archaeology, the history of Silesia and Poland, ancient technology, mineralogy, numismatics, and military artifacts.
