Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences

Established in 1953 as a research division of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History (Instytut Historii im. Tadeusza Manteuffla Polskiej Akademii Nauk) is headquartered in Warsaw, with additional offices in Gdańsk, Kraków, Poznań, and Toruń. The Institute is composed of six departments and 22 specialized sections, each focusing on various fields of research.

The Institute's research encompasses both Polish and global history, spanning from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Scholars at the Institute engage in both individual and collaborative research, often working on long-term projects. These include critical editions of historical sources, biographical studies, and research on historical geography, cartography, and bibliographies, among other topics.
