Historical Commission for Silesia

The Historical Commission for Silesia (Die Historische Kommission für Schlesien), founded in 1921 in Breslau (Wrocław), is one of the most prominent institutions in Germany dedicated to the study of the culture and history of East-Central Europe. Bringing together scholars from various countries and academic disciplines, the Commission actively supports research projects related to the history of Silesia, whether they are German, Polish, or Czech in origin.
Positioning itself as a bridge between East and West, the Commission fosters collaboration between institutions and individual researchers, as well as between academia and the broader public. It promotes dialogue and cooperation, initiates new research endeavours, supports emerging scholars, and works to enhance the public's understanding of its scholarly contributions.
